Internet Desk: Indian cricket team coach Ravi Shastri was in all praise for India’s star death overs bowler Jasprit Bumrah after the Men in Blue displayed a stellar performance in the third and final T20I against New Zealand to win the series 2-1. Bumrah bowled brilliantly in his allotted two overs where he took two crucial wickets by giving just nine runs to help his side win the match by six wickets.

“Outstanding temperament from Bumrah. He’s shown he’s got all the tools of the trade. But importantly, what he’s shown that he’s a thinking bowler,” Shastri said after the match.

In a rain interrupted game, the match started a couple of hours later and the match was reduced to 8 overs per side.

After winning the toss, Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson sent the hosts to bat first. The Men in Blue were restricted to 67/5 in their allotted 8 overs, Bumrah and the other bowlers displayed a controlled bowling as the visitors could only manage to score 61/6 in eight overs.

“You’ll be lying if you say you aren’t tense. Such games can change in the matter of 2-3 balls. Boys saved the best for last in terms of fielding. There was electricity on the field. We thought we could defend it,” Shastri said.

“After we lost a couple of wickets, our aim was to get 65. By no means it’s a match-winning score, but if you field well and start well, the pressure is on the opposition,” he added.

Bumrah was adjudged Man of the Match as well as the Man of the Series for his brilliant performances in all three matches.
