IND vs NZ 2017: Kohli’s ton goes in vain as Latham’s century seals match for the Kiwis

Internet Desk: India began their New Zealand campaign with a loss as the Virat Kohli led side went down fighting in the first ODI at Mumbai against the Kiwis. Chasing a challenging target of 281 set by India who batted first, the Black Caps comfortably chased the target with an over to spare.

A brilliant century, 121 from Indian skipper Kohli led the Men in Blue to amass a target of 280 in 50 overs. In reply brilliant batting from Ross Taylor and Latham led the Kiwis to the winning margin.

Openers Guptil and Munro began their innings on a fine note as both scored 32 and 28 respectively. Ross Taylor fell short of his century by just 5 runs when he was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Taylor’s fine innings of 95 had 8 Biundaries while centurian Latham was the man who finished the game for his side. Latham remained not out ob 103 with 8 boundaries and 2 over boundaries and thatvwas enough as the Kiwis scored 284-4 in 49 overs.

Despite the fact that the Indian bowlers where hammered back and forth, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bunrah, Kuldeep Jadav and Hardik Pandya all managed to take a wicket each.
