The rivalry between arch-rivals India and Pakistan is not happening a lot due to political tensions between the two countries.
When the Steve Smith brigade will face Virat Kohli’s Men in Blue in the five-match ODI series, it would be a battle between the two to reach the top spot of the ICC ODI rankings. South Africa are currently holding the top spot of the ODI rankings, but their poor show in big tournaments are the matter of concerns for the Proteas.
The current World Champions in 50 overs format, Australia are holding the second spot in the rankings and Virat Kohli led Indian cricket team are at number 3. Both the teams will be eyeing for the top spot while playing the ODI series. If either side wins the series with a margin of 4-1 or 5-0 they would replace the South Africans for the top spot.
The Men in Blue won their last home series against the Aussies when they toured India last time. Though the Australian team hit back in style as they beat the Men in Blue 4-1 in 2016 when they toured to Australia last time. The stakes are high and both the teams are ready to put in their best efforts to come out on top.
India would have a slight advantage as they will play on their home soil. The absence of the bowlers like Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood would hurt the Aussie brigade too.
