Internet Desk: India registered an emphatic victory against Australia in the first ODI held at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. Chasing a target of 282 set by India, the Aussies had to chase 164 in 21 overs after rain played spoil sport.
A brilliant partnership from Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Hardik Pandya set such a comfortable target for the Men in Blues. As for the Aussies are concerned the Oceania side experienced a major batting collapse. Openers David Warner scored 25 while Cartwright scored 1. Skipper Steve Smith too was dismissed on 1 while Head, Stoins and Wade scored 5,3,9 respectively.
Hard hitting Glen Maxwell scored a quick firing 39 after in 18 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. James Faulkner tried his best as he remained Notout on 32 as Australia ended the innings on 137-9 after 21 overs ensuring India a 26 run victory as per the DRS rule.
Yuzvendra Chahal scalped 3 wickets while Kuldeep Jadav and Hardik Pandya bagged 2 ans Bhuveneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah got a wicket apiece.
Australia will be playing the second ODI against India at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on September 21.
