XtraTime Web Desk: June 25, 1983 will always be a red letter day for Indian cricket as it was on this day Kapil Dev and his team created history at the Lords by winning the World Cup for the first time. Defying odds, Kapil’s Devils dethroned two-time defending champions West Indies in a low-scoring final. The win in 1983 changed the trajectory of Indian cricket forever. It also shaped the way for the future. Batting first India posted only 183 runs. In reply a star studded West Indian batting line up collapsed for 140 runs giving India an incredible win by 43 runs. There is no better iconic picture in Indian cricket than Kapil Dev holding the Prudential Cup at the Lords balcony. Let us relieve that memorable day at Lords in pictures.
