Kolkata: Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly released his book “A Century Is Not Enough” today in Kolkata. Not only the stars of Indian cricket like VVS Laxman, Harbhajan Singh, Cheteshwar Pujara Bengal players like Manoj Tiwary, Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Ashoke Dinda,Sambaran Banerjee, Wriddhiman Saha, Ranadeb Bose but also some legend from other sports like former Olympian P.K. Banerjee, East Bengal coach Subhash Bhoumick and film Director Srijit Mukherji, actress Koel Mallick was also present in the ceremony. Family members of Sourav were there. 50000 copies of the book already sold.

Sourav said, “I was lucky to have champions like Sachin, Rahul, Laxman, Harbhajan, Sewhag, Zaheer in my team. The book might not be completed if the 2001 home series in India, 2002-03 tour in AUS, Test & ODI series win in Pakistan didn’t happen. After scoring a hundred in my Test debut at Lord’s I was still in doubts about my international career, as I didn’t know whether I would get another chance or not.”

On the lighter note he said, “Whenever you feel upset you should read the tweets of Virender Sehwag. After scoring 8000 runs in the Test cricket as an opener he still think no.4 is the ideal slot for him. After Sunil Gavaskar he is the best opener for India.”

India beat Australia under Sourav’s captaincy and that changed the scenario of Indian cricket. Talking about the sweetest victory Dada added, “Beating Australia is always very special at our time, it was a totally different feeling of beating the Aussies as Steve Waugh’s side was just invincible. The home series win against Australia back in 2001 changed the mindset of the Indian cricket.”

Dada also shared Eden Test memory against Australia as he said, “My father send me a note and asked me to declare the innings in the fifth day. Bhajji was getting bounce from the wicket and that gave me the confidence that we can win the match.”

Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh said “I was kicked out from NCA as the officials thought that I was arrogant. But that time Dada supported me a lot. Whatever I’m today, all the credits go to this person.” Sharing the memory of Eden test Harbhajan said, “I knew we can win after tea.”

Another batsman VVS Laxman said, “In 2000 Indian cricket was going through lots of controversies and touched its low, Ganguly was the person who has actually changed everything.
