Internet Desk: It was a great season in first class cricket for Prithvi Shaw as he scored 3 centuries and selected as skipper of U-19 national team ahead of U-19 world cup.  “It is a very good opportunity for us since we have been working hard for the last 3 years. As a captain I want to take the entire team along, I have trust on my team. Ranji Trophy performance will help me in my batting for U-19 World Cup,” said Prithvi as quoted by Indian Express.

He scored 537 runs in 4 matches at the average of 48.81. He scored 120 in his debut match for Mumbai in the semi-finals of Ranji Trophy of 2016-17 followed with 154 in Duleep Trophy final as he played for India red against India Blue.

He wasn’t a part of the U-19 Asia Cup squad but, looking at his performance he got selected as the skipper of U-19 national team. During a press conference held in JW Marriott, Mumbai on Wednesday; Prithvi believes his Ranji Trophy performance will come handy at the bigger podium.

“We have a good balance side. We have quality batting unit, few boys have played Ranji Trophy. We have good team. I believe at this level you cannot predict who will make it higher level. All have potential ability to play for state and Indian team.” Coach and former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid said in the press conference. The tournament will start from January 13, India will face Australia on January 14.
