Kolkata: East Bengal’s Nigerian goal machine Ranti Martins has expressed his desire to play for another season with the Red and Golds. I League’s highest scorer this season wished to stay on with East Bengal for another season. Ranti will have his two year contract with the club get terminated at the end of Federation Cup.

Speaking to the scribes at the end of the team’s practice session at Howrah stadium, Ranti said, “I want to stay for another season at East Bengal. I had a 2 years agreement with the club that gets terminated after the Federation Cup,” further adding that “I had failed to give I League to East Bengal last couple of seasons. My only dream is to see the club win the coveted title which I have failed to give them. I want to try achieving that in the next season”

There’s no stopping the 30 year old striker as he is still scoring goals. He has now become the highest scorer in I League for a record fifth time. Ranti has left behind Cornell Glen of Mohun Bagan to become the highest goal scorer in I League this season with 12 goals. On being asked what has been his secret of success, the top scorer in I League commented, “The awards does give me motivation to play well. It acts as an inspiration for me.”

But in spite of being the top scorer in I League, Ranti’s biggest regret is not to win an I League with East Bengal. “I have come to East Bengal to help them win the I League. I would have been much happier if East Bengal won the I League.”
