With the derby still another 10 days to go the gaffer will be in front of the television set tomorrow noting down a point or two about his arch rivals who will play their first match in I League against Minerva Punjab FC at Ludhiana. East Bengal will first meet the defending champions Aizawl FC on December 28 before they take on Mohun Bagan at the Salt Lake Stadium on December 04. Talking to reporters after his team’s practice session at the practice grounds of the Salt Lake Stadium, Khalid said, “Yes, I will definitely watch the Mohun Bagan match on TV.” It was nothing new for Khalid to take a note of his opponents. During the Kolkata League matches, the East Bengal coach used to send his goalkeeper coach Siddiqui to watch Mohun Bagan’s matches at their ground. Even when he was the coach of Aizawl last season, he flew down to Kolkata to watch the Mariners play at Rabindra Sarobar Stadium. In order to watch the Mohun Bagan match on TV, Khalid intentionally kept his team’s practice in the morning tomorrow at Salt Lake Stadium. He had requested the club officials to keep the training sessions at the stadium in order to get a feel of the conditions. While Mohun Bagan has some injury woes, it is not the case with East Bengal. Bajo was seen training with the team after being out with an injury to his feet. It looks like the defensive midfielder will find a place in the first XI against Aizawl FC.
