The forthcoming edition of I League will see Goan clubs Salgaocar FC, Dempo SC and Sporting Clube de Goa pulling them out due to the roadmap of the All India Football Federation.

There will be two new teams, one each from Punjab and Chennai. Minerva Punjab FC and Chennai City FC have got a direct entry in the I League after their bid documents were approved by AIFF.

Former I League champions Churchill Brothers too will be seen in action after a gap of two years. The Goan club was thrown out of the I League in 2014 after failing to fulfill the AFC club licensing criteria.

Defending champions Bengaluru FC along with Kolkata giants East Bengal and Mohun Bagan will be the title contenders this season.

With talks of a merger between I League and ISL going on since a few months now, this might well be the last edition of the I League.
