Kolkata: Mohun Bagan’s newest recruit Scottish striker Darryl Duffy who landed in the city on Monday morning had come for his first training session today at the club tent. The Scottish striker trained on the sidelines with the physio and physical trainer Garcia while the other players played a practice tie against Peerless SC which they lost 0-2.

On asking him about arch-rivals East Bengal who are on the verge of creating history in the CFL if they win it for the consecutive record seventh time, Duffy said, “I am well aware of East Bengal’s record but I am here to deny them from winning it. It does not matter to me. I am here to score goals and help Mohun Bagan win the CFL.”

Duffy also confessed he had offers from East Bengal but he chose Mohun Bagan over East Bengal as he has been hungry for trophies for the last three years. He said, “East Bengal coach Trevor Morgan did contact my agent but they did not proceed any further. So I did not wait any further and signed for Bagan as they had offered me too.”

The Green and Maroon brigade played its first practice tie of the season today which they unfortunately lost 0-2. Bagan began well but could not keep the momentum going as the junior players lost the way through. In the meantime, Bagan earned a penalty but striker Ajay SIngh missed it. Mohun Bagan lost the match 0-2 to Peerless SC. Meanwhile Syed Rahim Nabi signed for Peerless SC in the CFL.
