Kolkata: Abhimanyu Easwaran led Bengal cricket team today didn’t give much chance to the Gujarat team to score big runs as they reached 141/3 in 50 overs at the end of Day 1 in the semi-final of Dr. K. Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament. The umpires had to stop the match after an hour of lunch as rain came into play.

Aamir Gani was the most successful bowler of Bengal as he took two wickets for 22 runs. Bhargav Merai was the top scorer for Gujarat as he remained not out on 41 at the end of day’s play.

According to Gani,” The wicket was a bit green at the start of play but the pacers didn’t take much advantage of it. But later we got three quick wickets in quick succession, if we got full day today the game could be in our favour. Rajul Bhatt was out too but umpire gave the decision in Gujarat’s favour. He knicked a delivery of me to Agniv Pan but the umpire hadn’t given out.”

Aamir Gani further added that they will try to get few quick wickets in the first session of play tomorrow.
