Internet Desk: In a high octane match, Shillong Lajong produced a spectacular performance to beat Meghalaya Police 4-2, in the Gionee Shillong Premier League at J N Sports Complex, Polo. Lajong made a remarkable comeback after conceding against Rangdajied in their previous match; it was a thrilling encounter between the teams, as the first half alone saw three goals being scored.

Lajong made the first impact in the match after Lalrammuana beautiful pass saw Isaac Vanlalsawma slotting it home on the 12th minute, and continued to control the proceedings of the match, however on the 30th minute police team commander Niwan created an opening for Samson Nongrum who fired the shot straight into the back of the net to equalize the deficit. The way match was progressing, with both the teams cancelling each other out, first half looked like it would end in a 1-1 draw, but MLP’s good work was undone on the 45th minute, when they awarded Lajong a corner, which Milan Basumatary netted out of the rebound from MLP’s custodian, making it 2-1 as the whistle blows.

The thrill continued even in the second half, Lajong doubled the lead on the 60th minute after a good ball from Pritam found Lalrammuana who did not fail in registering his name in the score sheet. Just two minutes later MLP’s Samson found his second goal and gave his team a glimpse of hope as they reduce the deficit making 3-2. From there on MLP had further chances to add to their score but Lajong kept out all their efforts. And any hopes MLP may have had about getting back into the contest were ended on the 67th minute when Allen Deory scored a fourth goal with his left foot from inside the box to seal the match. After this emphatic victory Shillong Lajong reclaims the top spot with 23 points from their 10 matches followed by a strong contender for this year’s league cup Rangdajied United FC with 21 points
