Internet Desk: MLP repeated their first leg annihilation of Nongkrem with another 4-0 victory, handing the lackluster Nongkrem side their 11th straight defeat in the Gionee Shillong Premier League, here at J N Sports Complex, Polo. Bottom placed Nongkrem miserable run to the season continues, and got smashed yet again in the hands of Police team. The match had a steady start; the first quarter of the match saw both teams struggling to coordinate and witnessed multiple offside offenses. MLP improved as the match progressed and Bankit Nongkhlaw wasted a glorious chance to open the scoring on the 21st minute, when he was one on one with Nongkrem’s goalkeeper. Nongkrem’s Gameliel K Lyngdoh was quite unfortunate, as he had to watch his free kick shot hit the crossbar which could have put his team ahead on the 32nd minute of the match. Few moments later on the 34th minute, a swift counter attack by MLP, saw Nongkrem trailing by 1 goal, when an attempt made by P Myrthong hits crossbar, which carved an opening for Salseng Sangma, as he controlled the rebound and puts it into the back of the net. MLP could not add to their tally and went on to break with one goal lead. Second half was sheer destruction for Nongkrem, it was a solid start from the Men in Black, they ran riot against Nongkrem, and made them looked helpless, cramped them in their own space. MLP’s passing was slick and incisive, never looked ruffled and produced moments of ruthless brilliance as they went on to score three goals, Niwan Gatphoh fired the second goal on the 66th minute, Donbok Khymdait and Samson Nongrum made it 4-0 scoring back to back on the 76th and 79th minute respectively. There was nothing wrong with Nongkrem’s custodian but he was ruthlessly exposed following their weak defensive structure allowing MLP to cut through with alarming ease. Police team never looked back from there on, kept on finding chances regularly, but failed find the nets or else it would have been dozens and for Nongkrem it was more of damage limitation, since it was no more a contest. This win saw MLP taking their tally to 12 points from 11 encounters, fighting their way out of relegation, While Nongkrem still remains in the bottom of the table with no points and getting deep rooted in the relegation zone.
