Kolkata: East Bengal beat Mohammedan Sporting club by 1-0 in an U-18 I-League encounter at Mohammedan Sporting Ground on Wednesday.

The game started with slow pace restricting the action to the midfield in the initial quarter of the game. However, as the game progressed, Mohammeda SC gradually gained control and dominated the possession.

East Bengal, on the other hand, defended deep and had their keeper Sovan Biswas to thank after he denied Rajat Mondal, Jitendar Jaiswas and Sourav Das on several occasions as both sides went into the breather locked scoreless.

Needing a goal, Mohammedan SC began the second half with added enthusiasm as they attacked by pushing high up, but Sovan once again came to his side’s rescue in the 56th minute when he saved Rajat’s long range effort.

Mohammedan SC, thereafter, went all out looking for the opener. While Mohammedan SC pressed high up, opponents East Bengal managed to take the lead against the run of the play through Sourav Mondal in the 86th minute.

Mohammedan SC, afterwards, had numerous chances to equalise, but nothing turned out to be fruitful as the game ended 1-0.

Mohammedan SC who are on 4 points from as many games dropped to fourth spot in league table will face SAI (East Zone) in an away match on December 15 at SAI Campus in Kolkata.
