Internet Desk: Rangdajied United FC beat Shillong Lajong FC by 2-1 today in the Under-16 Youth League in Mawlai Ground, Shillong.
Rangdajied United FC took the lead in the third minute after the Lajong keeper failed to read his defenders back pass and was caught up in a mix as the Rangdajied players were alert and quickly finished the chance into goal.
After conceding the early goal, the Lajong Junior Reds began to find their foot in the game and started to make some fine moves upfront. Donboklang blasted the ball from outside the box in the 19th minute to level the scoreline to 1-1.
As the game wore on, the referee gave Rangdajied a penalty after he spotted a foul inside the box. The Lajong keeper did well as he saved the penalty to deny Rangdajied the lead in the 25th minute.
RUFC players kept on pressing forward on many occasions and regained the lead in the game in the 31st minute.
In the 67th minute of the match, Lajong came very close to level the scoreline but Shafique’s header from the edge of the box went straight to the keeper’s hands.
Rangdajied United FC won the match by 2-1 today.
Shillong Lajong FC will play their next game on the 5th November against Guwahati Town Club.
