Kolkata: Ace Indian forward Robin Singh is all set to join his old club Kingfisher East Bengal for this season. The flamboyant striker had a wonderful stint with the Red & Gold brigade when Trevor Morgan had his first spell of coaching with East Bengal. Robin’s come back would certainly reunite his partnership with the British coach and will strengthen East Bengal’s attack in the Hero I-League 2017. The left-footed striker scored a few memorable goals in the Kolkata Derby in his first stint and became a crowd favourite for his club East Bengal.

Robin is set to join on a five months’ contract and is expected to join the side in the next 24 hours. A top East Bengal official confirmedĀ www.xtratime.in, “Yes we are taking him on a five months’ contract and his presence would certainly bolster our attack.”

Robin played in all three editions of the Hero ISL, initially with Delhi Dynamos and then with FC Goa this season. He joined Bengaluru FC after leaving East Bengal in 2013 and won the Hero I-league and Federation Cup titles for his club by scoring 11 goals in 41 appearances.

The 26 years old forward had been a regular choice for the national team before getting injured after the last ISL and scored a memorable goal to help India to win against Guam in the 2019 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers at Bengaluru, which happened to be the only game India won in the qualification round. Robin got a lot of applauds from the former Delhi Dynamos boss and Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos and eventually became his favourite by scoring four goals in the previous ISL.

In an interaction with XtraTime, Robin said, “I am eagerly waiting to join East Bengal and come back to the city of joy. The paper works are yet to be done but I am optimistic to join them as soon as possible.
