Internet Desk: Antonio Conte’s Chelsea came close, but couldn’t make history in the Premier League Championship. This Wednesday, playing away from home, the blue team saw their sequence of 13 consecutive wins in the competition come to the end. The man behind the dream was Dele Alli, Tottenham mid-fielder, who was responsible for two goals from the home side’s 2-0 win.

Alli’s first goal came in the 46th minute of the first half. Eriksen crossed into the area and the shirt 20 headed to open the score for Tottenham. Soon after 8 minutes of the second stage, the same story: Eriksen crossed again and Alli sent the ball to the bottom of the nets.

With the loss, Chelsea lost the chance to be the team with the most consecutive victories in the history of the Premier League Championship. With the 13 wins they achieved, Antonio Conte’s team is tied with Preston North End and Sunderland in 1891-92 and Arsenal in 2001-02.

Despite the setback, Chelsea remain calm in the lead. With 49 points, the team have five of advantage for Liverpool, placed second. Tottenham jumped to third with the win with 42 points.

In the next round, Chelsea visit reigning champions Leicester on 14 January. On the same day, Tottenham host West Bromwich.
