Kolkata: In a bizarre circumstance Mohun Bagan assistant secretary Srinjoy Bose was heckled by All India Football Federation (AIFF) executive committee member Ankur Dutta. The former AIFF vice president misbehaved with Srinjoy on the day of Federation Cup final.

The incident took place after the final whistle was blown after the Federation Cup final at Guwahati. Srinjoy, who was wearing a Field of Play card, was stopped by Ankur Dutta’s men from entering the field. The Bagan secretary wanted to join the celebrations along with his footballers after they thrashed Aizwal FC 5-0 to emerge as the champions for a record 14th time.

That instigated Srinjoy as he showered a barrage of words at Ankur and as he felt humiliated. Later, he made up his mind to take the matter to the Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal along with AIFF President Praful Patel. The entire incident took place in front of I League CEO Sunanda Dhar. The footballers were also surprised to see such a treatment being dished out towards their club secretary.

This is not the first time that the Bagan officials had faced the wrath of an AIFF official. Earlier in the season Bagan Coach Sanjoy Sen was suspended for making remarks against the scheduling of the I League.

A visibly annoyed Srinjoy was later allowed to enter the field. The Bagan assistant secretary was not available for any comment. But it goes to be seen which way the entire episode turns out.
