Kolkata: India and Chennaiyin FC striker Jeje Lalpekhlua is all set to be the highest paid Indian footballer in I-League. If things go accordingly, then the diminutive striker will stay with Green and Maroon for another season for a whopping Rs. 90 lakhs. The amount is believed to be more than Indian captain Sunil Chhetri.

Jeje, who plied his trade with the Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan for Rs.70 lakhs, will be paid at least 20 lakhs more this season. The reason for such a hike in price is attributed to Mohun Bagan’s arch-rival East Bengal. The Red and Golds also wanted the Indian striker to play for them but backed off at the last minute after the striker was not willing to sign for them at a price they offered him.

Jeje inclined to sign in favour of Mohun Bagan after November 23

With Chennaiyin FC failing to qualify for the semi-finals of Indian Super League, Jeje will soon sign in favor of Mohun Bagan. He had earlier wished to take a decision after the end of ISL season.
