Goa Pro-League: 21st Goan Glory for the Greens

Internet Desk: Salgaocar Sports Club lifted the Goa Pro League title for a record 21st time after beating CSM Taleigao by 2-0 on Friday. Salgaocar became Champions with 52 points from 20 matches. They had won 16 games and drew 4 in the league.

Goan giants Sporting Club de Goa are the runners-up of the tournament . They have lost their final match to Armando Colaco’s FC Bardez by 1-0 to end their campaign in Goa Pro League.

However there was no celebration by the team management as Salgaocar’s under-16 player Tyson Silva died in a road accident on Thursday.

Salgaocar coach Robert Norbert Gonzalvez dedicated their trophy win to Tyson Silva.

Robert, though was upbeat on his club’s commitment to the cause of football in Goa, his joy taken to a new level with the emerging of 18-year-old Liston Colaco as tournament top scorer with 13 goals.

“It is truly gratifying to a boy who’s with the club for 13 years or so doing so well, I wish him all the luck for his future” he said.
