Kolkata: Stephen Abarowei, former Nigerian international and one of the finest foreigners to have played for Mohun Bagan and JCT, has suddenly become immensely popular among the East Bengal supporters and officials. The Nigerian who gave the then National Football League titles to Mohun Bagan and JCT,  believes that his player Willis Plaza will bring the illusive I-League title to the Red and Gold brigade this season. Once the spearhead of Mohun Bagan attack alongside Barreto and Igor, also giving open certificate to Plaza. He said to www.xtratime.in, “Plaza is current national team player for Trinidad and Tobago. And he reminds more of me. The hunger and determination are very much the same. He is immensely skillful as well.”

Plaza scored a brilliant goal against DSK Shivajians on Saturday at Pune to help his team win the first game of the league this season. Stephen said, “I spoke to him and he seemed really happy. He told me that he is already in love with the passionate fans and promised me to make them happy if they continue to cheer like this for him”

Stephen was really ecstatic for his player as he said, “Babu da loves and respects me a lot and I have tried to keep my promise through Plaza and I will be happy if he leads them towards the title.” Stephen used to play as a winger in Mohun Bagan but played as a centre forward in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, East Bengal reached Goa today to play Churchill Brothers and the coach Trevor Morgan gave complete rest to the players. Kyrgyz international Ildar Amirov too joined the side today to silence the question mark of the East Bengal attacking force.
