Kolkata: South Korean forward Do Dong-Hyun’s future at East Bengal looks to be numbered with the club contemplating options of launching their I-League campaign with a new quartet of foreigners.

Dong sat down with the officials at the club tent on Monday evening. He was accompanied by his agent. Also present in the meeting was East Bengal club’s football secretary Santosh (Babu) Bhattacharya. The Korean footballer was briefed that the club coach Trevor James Morgan does not wish to register him for I League.

According to sources, Dong too realized his future with Red and Gold will depend on Morgan. The Korean footballer will again have a meeting with the club officials tomorrow.

According to Santosh Bhattacharya, “We explained him our problem that the coach is not willing to register him for I League. We hope he will accept our proposal and part ways with the club.”

The South Korean announced his arrival at the club last season with a bang, helping the side tame arch-rivals Mohun Bagan with a brace on way to helping the side win the CFL Premier Division. He also emerged as top-scorer of the local league.

Earlier the club has also released Scottish defender Callum Angus. It goes to be seen whether Dong will finally accept East Bengal’s proposal and take a release.

East Bengal announced the signing of Haiti International Wedson Anselme. The club officials are in the look-out for a few foreigners who have impressed in the ensuing Indian Super League (ISL).

Red and Gold gaffer will hope Anselme will fill up the void left by Nigerian striker Ranti Martins, who now plays for Penang FA in the Malaysian Super League. But the club is yet to finalise the four foreigners list stipulated in the I-League with Korean Dong most likely to be released after English defender Calum Angus .

The I-League starts on January 7 next year.
