Gudjohnson's departure creating mystery | Image : XtraTime[/caption] Internet Desk : FC Pune City have suffered a huge blow ahead of their third season of the Indian Super League as their marquee forward Eidur Gudjhonson has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury.

Though the club sources are officially claiming that Gudjohnson has picked up an injury but the ongoing buzz is indicating another story.

The new FC Pune City boss Jose Antonio Habas always had problems with the marquee players, this might be another name to get added in that list. Earlier when Mr Habas was with ATK, he had serious issues of "ego" with Luis Garcia in the first ISL and with Hélder Postiga in the later stage of the second edition.

The issues with Luis Garcia in the first edition forced the ace midfielder to sit out even in the big final at Mumbai as well. In the second edition when Postiga came back after recovering from the injury from Spain, Habas gave no attention to him and didn't even select him for the reserve bench. Gudjohnson's reason to miss the ISL because of "injury", thus creating a mystery.

The FC Pune City sources though have said that the former Iceland captain with 88 innternational appearance under his kitty, is returning home on Monday. ISL Season 3 will kick off on October 1 in Guwahati.

 “Gudjohnson is leaving for home tomorrow. He suffered an injury at a pre-season training session,” a club source told the media. The marquee forward didn’t play against Ozone FC in their practice match earlier this week as well.

The FC Pune City officials are now looking out for a replacement ahead of their ISL’s opening fixture which will be a Maharashtra Derby against Mumbai City FC on October 3 at Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune. According to the sources the Club Officials would make an official announcement on Monday.
