Kolkata: East Bengal defender Arnab Mondal has been show caused by AIFF on racist remarks and they have sent the official show cause letter to East Bengal officials on Monday. AIFF has asked East Bengal club to answer the show cause letter by 7th April. East Bengal top official, Debabrata (Nitu) Sarkar quoted as saying,” We have received the letter. I will speak to Arnab personally and then will sit with the other officials to decide on the further steps soon.”
What happened actually? During the half-time of the derby, it is said that East Bengal defender had made some racism comments on Cornell Glen which he had tweeted against Arnab on his twitter account. Mohun Bagan club too complained to AIFF secretary, Kushal Das on this issue. Earlier Kushal das said, “We are waiting for referee’s report and then will decide.” On that basis, AIFF had sent the show cause letter to East Bengal club.
Will the Indian international be able to feature in East Bengal’s xi against Mumbai FC? Nitu Sarkar said,” There is no objection on Arnab playing in the Mumbai FC match.” Arnab Mondal was unavailable to make any comment regarding this issue. As he had said earlier, “It is up to the club to decide. I will not say anything. I will do what my club decides.”
