Kolkata: Eden Gardens will host the first of three-match Test series between the hosts India and Sri Lanka which is set to start on Thursday. But the fans are not turning up to buy the tickets to see Virat Kohli & Co.

There are a forecast of heavy rainfall in Kolkata for next couple of days and the World No.1 Indian Test team just beat the depleted Sri Lankan side 9-0 in all formats in their own backyard couple of months back and these might be the reason for a low response from the fans in Kolkata.

Despite of the presence of India skipper Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and other stars the selling of the tickets are really very low.

“The website entitled to sell tickets for the match is struggling as there are almost no takers for the game,” a source said.

There are tickets available for all three sections in a very large numbers. The fans can get the Tickets at Rs 100, 150 and 200 for every day of the Test match.

It has been raining in Kolkata since last midnight and as per the weather depertment there would be more for the next 48 hours.

The ground was under covers since morning and neither India or Sri Lanka could practice. While India skipper Kohli spoke to media persons at the team hotel, his counterpart Dinesh Chandimal was only accompanied by team manager Asanka and national selector Gurusinha for the pre-match press conference.

The tickets counters at the venue wore a deserted look as the buzz of the recenly-played One Day International between India and Australia in September was missing. The second ODI was packed to capacity.
