Find out what Supreme Court wrote to BCCI regarding IPL

VIVO IPL Trophy

Internet Desk: The Supreme Court of India today issued a notice to the parent body of Indian cricket, BCCI regarding e-auctioning the broadcasting rights of the Indian Premier League for the forthcoming season.

A PIL was filed a few weeks ago BJP leader Subramanian Swamy stating the amount of Rs 30,000 crore involved in the award of IPL media rights should not be decided in an unclear way.

“This petition prays that the distribution of IPL Rights which is scheduled on July 17, 2017 should be done in the most transparent mode available that is via E-Auction,” the petition said.

“It is a requirement that non-discriminatory and transparent method, with the best international practices must be adopted for distribution of the valuable media rights so as to ensure the maximum revenue in the larger national interest,” the plea added.

The apex court will hear the case again on August 22 and the Auction is scheduled to happen on August 28.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has also issued notice to the BCCI for not implementing the Lodha Panel reforms and have also given the BCCI a couple of weeks two to reply on the matter.
