XtraTime Web Desk: Racism has now been the biggest curse in world football and FIFA of late has been really concerned to wipe out all the troubles. The latest issue has been related to FIFA World Cup 2018 host Russia.
World Cup hosts Russia have been charged with fan racism following their friendly against France last month.
Monkey chants were allegedly aimed at French players during the fixture in St. Petersburg, which the visitors won 3-1.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe, Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele and Manchester United’s Paul Pogba were among those allegedly targeted.
FIFA claim that they have now found enough evidence to charge the nation, saying “disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the Russian Football Union for this incident.”
Russia have faced similar charges at the last two European Championships, resulting in the RFU paying a fine.
It is the third racism case to come out of the St. Petersburg Stadium this season after their regular tenants, Zenit was twice charged by UEFA.
