FIFA U17 World Cup: Volunteers detained by police for black-marketing of tickets in Kolkata

Kolkata: In an unprecedented incident seven people were detained by the local police for black-marketing tickets here in Kolkata. The incident took place today outside the Salt Lake Stadium ahead of the FIFA U17 World Cup clash between Japan and New Caledonia. The Bidhan Nagar police in an official statement said that all the seven people has been detained and are being interrogated. Among the seven detained three of them were volunteers for the ensuing tournament while the other four of them were general public. This is the first instance of an incident surrounding black marketing of tickets during the tournament.

The gigantic Salt Lake Stadium has seen huge crowd turnouts for the FIFA U17 World Cup matches. There were 44665 spectators at the stadium today to witness the Group E & F clashes between Japan-New Caledonia and England-Iraq.
