FIFA U17 World Cup: Visiting teams to get a flavor of festive season in Kolkata

Internet Desk: The U17 National team of England, Chile and Iraq are in Kolkata right now to play their group League matches of the FIFA U17 World Cup at the Salt Lake Stadium which is all set to start from October 6. But ahead of that they will see the rich culture of Kolkata when they will be the special guests of the Durga Puja festival’s immersion carnival on Tuesday. The great carnival will take place at the Red Road in Dharamtala.

As per the sources ahead of their Group F matches at the newly renovated Salt lake Stadium, the teams will be present at the programme which will be conducted by State Government of West Bengal. The top Pujas of Kolkata will take part in this grand occasion.

Iraq and Chile have already reached the City of Joy, England will come to Kolkata from Mumbai on Tuesday. On the other hand Mexico won’t take part in the carnival as they will be reaching the city on Wednesday. Kolkata will also host one Group E match between Japan and New Caledonia.

All the six teams were invited join the festivities before the Durga Puja began.

Except six group matches, the football crazy city will host a round of 16 game, one quarter-final game, a third place match and the grand finale of the tournament. The final will take place at the colossal Salt Lake Stadium on October 28.
