Kolkata: The moment has arrived, the game which no one had expected to happen at Kolkata and more importantly, a game which could probably give everyone the biggest hint about the probable champions of the FIFA U17 World Cup 2017. The last game saw something which the Brazil team could probably have never imagined to witness outside their country. More than 66,000 people screaming at the peak of their voices to back the Selecao throughout the game. No wonder, the Brazil coach Carlos Amadeu could expect similar in the semi final as well.
In the press conference, Amadeu said, “We are happy to play here again as you recieved us really good way. The crowd and grass are also reasons why we are happy.”
The Brazil Coach denied the fact that England will have an advantage playing at the Salt Lake Stadium, as they played their group league games, at the same time he also stated that it won’t be an advantage for his team as well considering the response he received in the last game. He said, “It’s not an advantage despite the fact that we have the such a good field and crowd to play in front of. I would like to have been playing here since the start but it’s impossible. So, as we have one match here, and it can work as our advantage too.”
Brazil left fullback Weverson made the difference in the last game when he came on as a substitute. But the coach hinted that he was impressed about his performance. But on the matter of the two best attacking teams playing in the semi final Amadeu said, “I don’t know how to speak about statistics. Both teams are offensive or something like that but yes these are two strong teams with a collective style of play at a high level and individual players with really great skills. It will be a great match.” He added, “Weverson understood why he got out from the first XI. His reaction was very good. When he got opportunity, as soon as he got the opportunity he showed you and me what he can do. It was a great experience for us and also for me.”
The Brazil coach hailed the opposition and their strength as he said, “All the England teams are doing very well. They have one of the best squads in youth all around the world. I am sure this will help them in the future. We don’t have any advantage. Anyone can win.”
The Brazil coach signs off by saying, “I expect a very difficult game. We have a lot of respect for all opponents. It won’e be any different against England. We expect to be strong in our defensive system but we are expecting them to be really aggressive too and their forward line is really good as well.”
The Brazil coach made it clear that the journey to Guwahati to Kolkata twice a day didn’t matter to them. He said, “Only thing is that we are happy to play in a World Cup and in front of you. We won’t change our humour whatever happens in this competition. Nothing would take away our smile. The worst would be brazil not playing in a World Cup.”
