FIFA U17 World Cup: Jadon Sancho’s inclusion strengthens the Young Lions

Internet Desk: Wednesday, October 4 saw England’s star attacking player, Jadon Sancho joining the practice session as the Three Lions began their first official practice session ahead of the FIFA U17 World Cup.

England will kick start their campaign on Sunday, October 8 against Chile. The other two teams of the group are Iraq and Mexico.

The Attacking midfielder is expected to play the group stages after which he will be leaving for German club Borussia Dortmund.

“At the moment, he is available for the group stages. Let’s see what happens after that if we qualify,” an England team source said here.

The Young Lions who won their practice game in Mumbai on Sunday against New Zealand 3-2 hit the training for 2 hours at the Authority of India (SAI) complex. Before the game against the Kiwis, the England played against Brasil and South Africa in their home.

Sancho who was present in Dortmund’s 2-1 victory over Augsberg last week was not featured in the game.

The London born midfielder has scored 13 goals in 16 caps for the England youth team. The product of Manchester City Academy joined the German giants on the last day of the summer transfer window.

The Young Lions would be participating for the U17 World Cup for the fourth time. The Three Lions lost on penalties to Spain on the finals of the UEFA European U-17 Championship 2017.
