Xtra Time Web Desk: Manchester City forward Ferran Torres broke an 11 year-old record set by current Barcelona Captain Lionel Messi in City's 4-3 win over Newcastle United this week, becoming the youngest player to score a league hat-trick under Pep Guardiola. Messi, the Argentinian superstar, had scored a hat-trick for Barcelona in a 5-0 win over Tenerife under the stewardship of Guardiola 11 years ago. Torres helped City beat Newcastle United in what was a seven-goal thriller on Friday night (GMT).

The victory also meant that City set a new English record with 12 successive away wins in the league. Pep Guardiola lauded Torres for his performance, as he considers how to get the best out of the youngster for next season. City had signed Torres last summer from Valencia in what was considered a coup of a signing by many, and the youngster has definitely had a decent season this time around.
