Exclusive: What was Dhoni doing with the pistol?

Sabyasachi Bagchi: There is never a dull moment in the life of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The former India captain known to be an adventurous person tried his skills with a pistol at the shooting ranges of the Calcutta Police Training School.

The cricketer from Ranchi was accompanied by Manish Pandey after the practice session of Team India on their way back from the Eden Gardens. Dhoni, very few will know also loved shooting and try his skill wherever he finds an opportunity. He is also a very good badminton player as well.

The wicket-keeper batsman did made his wish known to the Indian team’s local manager Moin bin Maqsud upon arriving in Kolkata. According to Moin, “The programme was organised in a very short notice. I must thank the officers in Calcutta Police Training School for their co-operation. He spent almost 2 hours at the range and even gave a brief motivational speech to the new officers.”

The former India captain was on Wednesday nominated by the BCCI for the prestigious Padma Bhushan which is treated as the nation’s third highest civilian award. He looked in a jovial mood as he was involved in a game of football with his teammates at the lawns of the Eden Gardens.
