Exclusive: Kohli’s absence will be a disadvantage for India, says Md Amir

Debasis Sen, Dubai:
Pakistan left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir on Tuesday said that Virat Kohli’s absence in the Asia Cup will be a huge disadvantage for India. According to Amir, “For me every wicket is important whether its Kohli or any other Indian batsmen. Indian batting line up depends on him and it will be a disadvantage for the Indian team.”

The left arm fast bowler is being criticized recently for his poor strike rate. Amir himself seems to be not concerned at all.

“Look, as a main bowler you feel the lack of wicket as main strike bowler. It’s also a frustration for the fast bowler; you get confidence by getting wickets and do better and better. Wickets are necessary but at times you are bowling well and wickets don’t come. I always believe that luck also matters in cricket but at the end of the day you need to work hard and hard and the reward comes. I have maintained that hard work so I will try my best to get wickets for my team,” said Amir.

The last time these two nations clashed against each other was during the Champions Trophy final. It was Amir’s initial burst that paved the way for a resounding victory for Pakistan.

India will be playing in Dubai after a gap of 12 years and the forthcoming clash between the two arch rivals has created a huge hype among the local fans here mostly Indians and Pakistanis.

On being asked about Wednesday’s clash against India, Amir said, “No doubt, there is so much hype over a Pakistan and India match. It’s so much hyped in the media and in public but at the end of the day you have to play a match and give your hundred percent. When it’s an Indo-Pak match every player in his mind that if he performs here he becomes a hero from zero and every player has the focus that strong team like India and Australia you do well. That makes or breaks your career and you can express your skill and gets the confidence. For me it’s my all out effort to perform then it helps lift your career,” signed off Amir.
