Exclusive | ISL 2017: ATK preparing to land former Manchester United starlet

Suman Chakravorty, Kolkata: The Hero Indian Super League 2017 is coasting and the defending champions ATK is preparing to sign former Manchester United player Tom Thorpe, who made his Manchester United debut under Louis Van Gaal back in 2014/15 season, The defender is a Manchester United youth academy product and was hugely appreciated by the former Manchester United manager as well.

Thorpe was loaned out to Championship club Birmingham City in 2014. He was called into the Manchester United first team in September 2014 and made his Premier League debut shortly after. He has represented England at all youth levels from England U16 to England U21, winning the 2010 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.

The new ATK boss Teddy Sheringham himself was a Manchester United star. Technical Director Ashley Westwood too was a Manchester United youth academy product and as per sources, the combination is trying desperately to land the starlet in the Kolkata franchise.
