Internet Desk: History is in favor of France to win major finals on home soil. It will be the task for Portugal to break the myth. However, it will not be easy to beat Portugal who are unbeaten in their last 13 matches. France coach, Didier Deshchamps is also on the verge of making history as a coach. If Deshchamps can guide France to win the Euro 2016 then he will be the first coach to win Euro as a player in 2000 and as a coach in 2016. Deshchamps was also a member of the France side which won the FIFA World Cup in 1998.
Portugal and France faced each other for the last 10 matches where France won all the matches. France appeared in one final of Euro for two times. They won both in 1984 and 2000 Euro finals. However, the recent history of France is not adequate to the Euro 2016 final. There is no big trophy in France tent since 2000. That can be a matter to worry for French coach Didier Deschamps.
On the other hand Portugal reached the final of Euro only once. Two times they reached the semi-final but could not crack the final ticket. This time the team is seemed to be on the top gear to reach the final. Previously Cristiano Ronaldo had hard luck to lose the semi-finals of Euro 2012. After that match this Euro 2016 final will be another major final for them. Both the two finalists have lack of experience of playing major finals.
The main scorer of France side Griezmann is running smoothly towards the golden boot. Before the semi-final of Euro 2016 he was the top scorer with four goals. After scoring two goals in the semi-final against Germany he is likely out of anybody’s reach as the highest scorer.
The French camp has no injuries as is being declared by the coach Deschamps. As most of the players are new it is hard to predict the football they play. Griezmann apart from scoring also assisted to score by his teammates. Dimitri Payet, Paul Pogba and Oliver Giroud are also on their height to score goals.
On the other hand Portugal is playing a total team game. They have not drawn a single match in this tournament apart from winning the quarterfinal match through penalty shoot out. The statistics shows that the team is not depending on Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the injured defender Pepe is still not sure for the final. This may cause difficulty for Portugal.
Home ground is a big favor for France. And also this time luck is with the host team. In the semi-final the penalty they earned was a result of a hand ball by Germans. Also Germans missed some sure shots which helped the host to reach the final. On the other hand Portugal is not depending on luck but depending on their tactical football.
