Kolkata: East Bengal’s Willis Plaza is a huge fan of Shah Rukh Khan. Plaza, who hails from Trinidad, loves the Bollywood superstar just like most of his countrymen do. The lanky striker has already seen most of the blockbusters of the actor. Plaza, who has already won hearts of the East Bengal fans by his skills so far, wants to meet Shah Rukh personally.

“Do you know who the most popular figure in Trinidad is?” asked Plaza to the handful of media waiting after the East Bengal practice at Howrah Stadium on Tuesday.

The 29 year old did not hesitate to give his reply, “It is Shah Rukh Khan you know. He is the most popular figure in entire Trinidad. People back home just love watching his movies.”

Shah Rukh Khan’s new release Raees will hit the theatres of the country on Wednesday. Plaza has already seen SRK starrers Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Don, Kuch Kuch Hota Hain and many more.

“I always love watching his movies. He is such a big star in our country. Whenever I find time, I sit down watching his movies.”

On being told that the actor will be in the city over the weekend to promote his new release, Plaza got very excited. But his excitement was short lived as he will have to fly with the team to Punjab to play their next I League match against Minerva Punjab FC on Saturday.

“I would love to watch him. But unfortunately I will not be in the city.”

The Trinidadian is also aware of Shah Rukh’s team Trinbago Knight Riders, which plays in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). On being told that the Bollywood actor also owns a team in IPL, Plaza said, “Yes, Dwayne Bravo is the captain of the Trinbago Knight Riders.”

Plaza, who has already played 23matches for the country is eager to score a goal in the derby. He is already enjoying the cheers of the East Bengal fans. On Tuesday, a group of fans gifted him a portrait of him. The fans only request to Plaza was to see him score against Mohun Bagan on February 12 during the first I League derby at Siliguri’s Kanchenjunga stadium .

“I am starting to get familiarized with the derby. I know it is a big game. I can anticipate it as the fans want to see me score.”

Lastly, Plaza is enjoying his stay here in the city. He went to the Alipore zoo yesterday.

“I love Kolkata much more than Goa. It is a lovely city and the people are very friendly as well,” said Plaza.
