Kolkata: East Bengal General secretary Kalyan Majumder today criticized Mohun Bagan for withdrawing their name from the derby in the upcoming Calcutta football league. Mohun Bagan has already declared of not playing the derby matches of Calcutta Premier Division League this year.

Today East Bengal General secretary said, “What can we do if someone does not want to play the matches. There are some teams who sometimes give walk over and some teams who run away from playing matches.”

There was a meeting held at the East Bengal club today for the East Bengal Foundation Day on 1st August at the Khudiram Anusilan Kendra from 5 p.m. Chief Guest Milkha Singh will be awarded with “Bharat Gourab”. “Flying Sikh” Milkha Singh will be arriving in the city on the morning of 1st August.

East Bengal will hand over the Life Time Achievement Award of this year to two veteran players- Shyamal Ghosh and Shyam Thapa. The Player of the Year for the last season will be awarded to Korean Do-Dong Hyun. Apart from these, awards will be delivered to journalists and photographers too. Debasish Dutta will be awarded with the Best Journalist award and Ranajoy Roy (Ronny Roy) will be awarded with the best Photographer award.
