East Bengal recruits two more footballers, Mohun Bagan signs experienced defender

Indian Transfer
Kolkata:
Kingfisher East Bengal and Mohun Bagan start working on war footing to recruit quality Indian footballers after the Hero ISL 2017 players draft got finished. Mohun Bagan had been pro-active though, as they secured the signings of players like Denson Devdas, Abhishek Das, Nikhil Kadam, Gurjinder Kumar, Debabrata Roy, Shilton D’Silva, Israil Gurung. Today, they secured the signing of Mohammedan Sporting central defender Rana Gharami and another young talent Uttam Rai for the forthcoming I-League season. Rana played a huge role to lead Bengal to win the Santosh Trophy this season.

East Bengal too is desperate to strengthen their squad as they roped in goalkeeper Arup Debnath and Godwin Franco who were not picked in the draft by any of the franchise. East Bengal was on short of a goalkeeper and Arup Debnath could be a good replacement for the Red and Gold brigade. The East Bengal side had struggled in their goalkeeping position in the last few seasons and they are circumspect in choosing footballers in that position this season.

Uttam Rai had been highly rated in Indian football and rated as one of the best young talents in Dempo. But in the last few seasons he has been troubled by a lot of injuries. It is to see how he performs in his new stint at Mohun Bagan.
