East Bengal in talks with Lebanese striker Akram Moghrabi

Internet Desk: Kolkata giants East Bengal are in talks with Lebanese striker Akram Moghrabi. The 31 year old striker has played 26 matches for his country. The 6ft 2 inches tall Moghrabi has scored 4 goals for his country. He has also scored 16 goals in 26 appearances for his present club Nejmeh SC in this season.

Mogharabi was a part of I-League winning side Churchill Brothers in 2012-13 season. Akram scored 10 goals for Churchill, including a hat-trick against ONGC. He is known as one of the best strikers of Lebanon. Akram is currently the top goal scorer in the Lebanese premier league this season.

If Akram is signed by East Bengal, then he will be the Asian quota footballer to be signed after Willis Plaza of Trinidad & Tobago, Ivan Bukenya of Uganda and Wedson Anselme of Haiti. East Bengal has already started their practice for the upcoming I-League season under Coach Trevor James Morgan from December 19.

Moghrabi was part of the Al Nejmeh side that convincingly defeated East Bengal  3-0 in 2010 AFC Cup at the Beirut Sports City stadium.

Hero I-League will start from January 7, 2017.
