Kolkata: www.xtratime.in yesterday revealed that East Bengal’s star Trinidad & Tobago international Carlyle Mitchell suffered a hamstring injury during the team’s training session at the Barasat Stadium. Today the doctor’s have confirmed that Mitchell has a hamstring tear and he is out for almost next two months. After this his participation for the Red & Gold Brigade in the forthcoming I-League is in serious doubts.

East Bengal was practicing at the Howrah Municipal Corporation ground for last few days, but the team management had decided that the team would practice at the Barasat Stadium yesterday. Barasat has an Astro-turf and according to many a sudden practice session on the artificial turf is the main reason for his injury.

Club doctor Shantiranjan Dasgupta too confirmed the news.” Yes he has a hamstring tear and it would take at least 8 weeks to recover from this injury. We will talk with the coach regarding him then the officials will take their final call about his future in the club. It depends on the player’s will power that how much time he would take to recover. VP Suher too got an hamstring injury during the Calcutta Football League but Mitchell’s injury is much serious than him.”
