Kolkata: East Bengal goalkeeper Dibyendu Sarkar survived from a dangerous head injury today during training at the Howrah stadium. Dibyendu clashed with Gurwinder Singh in practice today which made him senseless for quite a while. Coach Trevor Morgan called off the training for sometime as his treatment was being done on the field. He was supposed to be taken to hospital but it did not happen as he became normal after sometime.

Earlier, in the Asean Cup in 2003, Debjit Ghosh suffered a similar injury in the head and then Dr. Santiranjan Dasgupta cured him in Jakarta. He said today, “He suffered from convulsion as his body shook up suddenly and for a bit his brain stopped functioning. But now he is fine . I have asked him to do the CT scan and have advised him to take rest for the next 7 days as a result he will miss the opening two matches of the CFL.”

In the past, Nigerian goal machine Ranti Martins suffered from this kind of injury but he got well soon within few minutes. This kind of injuries can be dangerous at times and sometimes it happens in a temporary manner.
