Kolkata: Today on East Bengal’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) a question was raised about the contract issue with Kingfisher. A letter was received by the club which stated that United Beverage (UB) would not grant money more than 1.5Cr. Previously UB used to pay a sum of 8.25Cr along with added money on certain occasions.

The jump down from 8.25 to 1.5Cr has raised certain questions as to whether the Red and Gold brigade would continue with them. The relation with UB acts as a joint venture as they pay the money and use the Brand value of ‘East Bengal’ club. However if UB doesn’t pay the required sum then the Kolkata giants find no occasion to continue their venture with them.

The members were up to the decision to look for new sponsors when Secretary Kalyan Majumdar claimed it is too early to take such decisions and they must wait for a little while.

On the other hand 19th September was scheduled to hold the match between East Bengal and Tollygaunge Agragami. However as of now due to the ongoing installation of floodlights at the Red and Gold club, the venue has been shifted to Kalyani stadium on the same date.
