Doubts linger over Bumrah’s availability for Lords test

Debasis Sen, London:
Team India were dealt a blow ahead of the second test match against England as medium pacer Jasprit Bumrah looks unlikely to be fit for the Lords test. The Mumbai Indians medium pacer was picked in the Indian squad for the first three test matches despite a fractured thumb. But it seems he is running out of time to get himself hundred percent fit for the Lords test.

The medium pacer was seen bowling in the nets continuously to stay in shape. The support staff of the team has been working relentlessly to get Bumrah available for the second test but as things stands, it is likely that the medium pacer will have to sit out for the crucial second test as well.

Both Bumrah along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been instrumental in India winning the test match against South Africa in Johannesburg at the start of the year.

Everyone will have a clear picture when Team India turns up for practice at the Lords on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Indian cricketers arrived here in London from Birmingham in groups. Some players travelled to London by train while the others arrived in Team Coach.
