Dominant Mohun Bagan thrash Lajong to clinch a vital win

Internet Desk: It was very cold in Shillong as the highlanders faced Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan. Mariners outplayed Lajong 3-0 in the away match. Mariners got their first goal in the 30 th minute as Cameron Watson delivered a corner to the far post unmarked Dipanda Dicka did no mistake to deliver it to the back of the net.

Lajong had a great chance in the 22 nd minute as Samuel delivered a free kick Daniel Odafin shot it to Abdoulaye Koffi but, couldn’t get a final shot.

The highlanders missed another good chance in the 42 nd minute as Rakesh Pradhan crossed a ball from the left which Mohun goalkeeper Shilton Paul got hands to it but the second ball came to Novin Gurung who missed a open net chance.

At the dying minutes of the first half home team got a free kick Samuel curled in but brilliance of Shilton helped Bagan to keep their lead intact.

In the second half Bagan scored twice as Akram Moghrabi in the 86 th minute as Raynier Fernandes delivered a ball to the Lebanese striker and he made no mistake to sent the ball back of the net.

Floodgates opened when Sk. Faiaz scored on his own and placed the ball in the far side Lechenpa, Lajong goalkeeper had no chance to stop it.

With that wonderful away win Bagan climbed up to the third spot along with East Bengal with 20 points in 12 matches.

Akram got the Hero of the match award for his brilliant performance in the game. Japanese midfielder Yuta Kinowaki was injured in the previous few matches but came back strongly as played brilliantly not only to deny the highlanders to score a goal but also deliver some delightful pass to the forwards.
