Kolkata: August 1 marks the Foundation Day of East Bengal Football club and the club officials want to invite AIFF President Praful Patel on that auspicious day. Regarding this matter conversations have been made by club official Debabrata Sarkar with Mr. Praful Patel.
While talking to www.xtratime.in correspondent Gopal Roy, AIFF President Praful Patel said,” I have received the invitation from East Bengal but I can’t attend the programme as I have an urgent meeting with Sharad Pawar at Delhi.”
On this day, Dhanraj Pillai will be awarded the East Bengal Bharat Gourav, Subhash Bhowmik and Syed Nayamuddin would be present with the life time achievement award. Gurwinder Singh would be awarded as the Best Defender Award at the Netaji Indore Stadium.
Despite the presence of Sports Minsters, the Red and Gold club officials want the presence of Mr. Patel as that would add to the grandeur of the event.
On the other hand it has been officially announced by Debabrata Sarkar that the practice session will not be held at Kalyani. The club official however didn’t want to speak anything about the matters and the controversy that has been surrounding with Abinash Ruidas.
However the a matter of confusion has been cleared when Provat Lakra signed for Patha Chakra to play for the upcoming CFL where he would be joining the likes of Snehasish Chakraborty, Lalkamal Bhowmik and Budhiram Tudu. Lakra was continuing his practice at the Mohun Bagan club ground till today. A brilliant gesture was shown by the Mariners when they sent him to the office by a car after Patha Chakra official Nabab Bhattacharya showed the correct contract paper of Lakra.
