Kolkata: Kolkata giants East Bengal finally reached an agreement with South Korean playmaker Do Dong Hyun as the youngster signed a one-year extension at the club tent on Wednesday evening.

The former North East United player had been waiting in Kolkata to have the final round of talks and finally put his pen to paper and will leave for his country tonight.

According to club sources, the old contract which was done with Dong after the CFL was of no value. A fresh and new one-year contract has been formed and on the basis of that Dong extends is stay with the Red and Gold for a year.

Surprisingly, Santosh Bhattacharya, the football secretary of East  revealed a week ago that no contract was eventually signed. The 21-year old is reportedly not part of Trevor James Morgan’s proposed squad for next season and for the last couple of weeks, the club looked reluctant to hand him an extension.

However, the two parties finally reached an agreement and Dong becomes the first foreigner to be signed by the Red and Golds for the coming season.
