Internet Desk: Indian athletics may have another black mark as sprinter Dharambir Singh is likely failed the dope test. Sources said, the sample-A of the sprinter tested positive. He missed his scheduled flight to Rio yesterday night which raised question over his travel to the Olympics.

Still now National Anti-Doping Authorities and Athletics Federation of India has not confirmed of his exclusion from the Rio squad. Sources said, that Dharambir has been asked to step down since the result of sample-B comes out. He has seven days to get the procedure completed.

Dharambir became the first Indian male sprinter to qualify for the Olympics after 36 years. He had breached the 200m Olympics entry standard by clocking 20.45 seconds in the fourth Indian GP in Bengaluru on July 11, the last day of qualification, which was hastily arranged by the Athletics Federation of India to give the athletes a chance to make it to the Rio Games.

Dharambir was earlier stripped of his gold medal won in 100m race during the National Inter-State Championships in 2012 for evading a mandatory dope test and a lengthy ban may bring an end to his career. On 11th July his impressive timing had raised suspicions in some quarters.

Now the fate of Dharambir is depending on NADA as of Inderjeet Singh, the shot-putter. Yesterday he was also tested positive for his sample-B.
