Internet Desk: India stumper Wriddhiman Saha , who celebrated his 32nd birthday on Monday with his Bengal teammates is happy to have the confidence of his Test captain Virat Kohli. Kohli earlier stated that he was very impressed with the performance of the Bengal wicketkeeper batsman. Saha who is now in Dharamsala with the Bengal team to take part in the forthcoming Ranji Trophy Group A clash against Railways said, “It’s always a nice feeling when you have the confidence of your captain. It’s my responsibility to perform to the best of my ability.”

Saha will be back into action after a two week break from cricket. He was instructed by Team India coach Anil Kumble to take a break after the recently concluded test series against New Zealand to keep himself fresh for the test series coming up against England. According to Wriddhiman, “I have not watched England play against Bangladesh. But given the form we are in, it will be a evenly contested series.”

Bengal will go into the match against Railways with a confident boosting victory against Punjab. The side led by Manoj Tiwary has so far collected 9 points from 2 matches. Asked to comment about the performance of the current team, Saha complimented the performance of the youngsters in the Bengal team.

“I am impressed with the approach taken by both Manoj and Sairaj. They have given the youngsters the license to play freely and express themselves. They will have ups and downs as far as performance is concerned. But the youngsters have been given the cushion of 3-4 matches to perform which I think has worked wonders for the Bengal team in the first couple of matches.”

Talking about Manoj’s captaincy, Saha complimented his teammate. “I have seen him captaining Bengal since U’19 days. He has done well as a captain and enjoys the role. As far as batting is concerned, I reckon he is the best batsman from Bengal in our time.”

Wriddhiman was recently in the capital spending time with his family. He celebrated his 32nd birthday today with his Bengal teammates in Dharamsala. On being asked how he celebrated the day, Wriddhiman commented, “This birthday is obviously special as a lot of good things happened in my life in the past six months. I scored my first test century and that too in my home ground Eden Gardens. It was my knock at Eden that contributed to the team’s win. I am regular now in the Indian team.”

He has been receiving plenty of messages from his teammates, friends and well wishers. But the best of the lot came from former India opener Virender Sehwag. The Nawab of Najafgarh in his tweet reminded everybody that the wicketkeeper batsman was the best choice for the native format.

Wishing Saha, Sehwag wrote, “Happy Birthday @Wriddhipops Wriddhiman Saha. Test Cricket me toh Yahi hai right choice baby, Saha. #BuddhimanWriddhiman #WahSaha”
